Popular content creator and writer, Ademuwagun Samuel popularly known as BOD Republic, not many people would know that he was once a music artiste before he became a social media influencer and content writer.
Ademuwagun Olabode Samuel was born and raised in Agege, Lagos State. BOD Republic developed a passion for music as a child and began singing in high school. He started making songs in 2016, and in 2019 he collaborated with Reminisce, a great Nigerian musician, and the video was broadcasted on all top national TV stations.
In 2020, during COVID, he discovered his talent for content writing and became a popular force on social media, especially on the bird app Twitter.
BOD who is currently based in the UK revealed that music was his first love and he actually worked with some of Nigeria’s top music artistes and music producers before he embraced the life of a content writer creating value for people and their businesses through his social media accounts.
B.O.D chats with Adedamola Edun on his journey from music to content creation.
What was growing up like for you?
Growing up was a bit tough, because I wasn’t born with a silver spoon, I had to take responsibilities at my early age, but thank God I am where I am today.
Can you take us to when you made your first money creating content for a brand?
I made my first money for creating content last year where I got paid to influence a brand called Shomolu Exchange; it’s a Crypto Exchange Company. I got a six-month ambassadorial deal.
How long have you been in the entertainment industry and what inspires you?
I’ve been in the entertainment industry for 4 years now, and my life struggles inspire me to always want to do more.
What are the challenges you encountered when you first started?
It was very tough when I started, because as we all know the beginning is always hard in everything one is doing. My first challenge was having the right people to talk to and put me through.
Is there any creative or brand you’ll love to work with?
I’d love to work with EE Network UK and other major brands in Nigeria, the UK, and around the world.
Mention content creators that inspire you to do more and to be more creative?
I appreciate many of them in the Nigerian and British content-creating communities, including Khaby Lame, Sabinus, Pamilerin, Aproko Doctor, and Darren Rowse, but my favorite is Khaby Lame because I value how authentic his work is.
How do you feel when others laugh and admire your content?
I feel good. Either way, I keep going. I don’t get distracted. I keep on doing my thing.
Advice for people who want to be a content creator like you?
Just be you. The beginning can be very tough, but it will be worth it with your perseverance and consistency.
