When Iwalogboneda Abolore Omotayo, founder of Darabeauties, set out to build her beauty brand, her vision extended far beyond creating flawless makeup looks. Today, she is using her platform to empower aspiring artists through her Free Makeup Training programme, an initiative that is steadily transforming lives within Nigeria’s beauty community.
On March 18, 2026, Omotayo hosted another impactful edition of the training, bringing together industry professionals and upcoming makeup artists for a full day of learning, mentorship, and practical sessions. The event, which was the third edition, was designed not just to teach makeup, but to provide a deeper understanding of how to succeed in the beauty business.

From the keynote session by Omolola Faleye to business insights shared by Bimpe Onakoya, participants were exposed to valuable lessons on purpose, consistency, and financial stability. Omotayo herself led a hands-on practical session, guiding attendees through professional techniques while emphasizing precision and client satisfaction.

One of the standout aspects of the training was its focus on business and personal growth. Sammy of Sammy Inventions delivered a practical gele and business session, encouraging participants to think beyond skills and focus on building sustainable careers alongside other speakers which includes: Oluwaseun Olusegun, Oluwatosin Adewumi of Fabrikraft, Fikayo Jegede, Kareemat Agboola and Helen Ozor.
The impact of the programme was evident in the feedback from participants.
Adesanya Omolade Yemisi of @Lades__empire described the training as an eye-opener, noting that it helped her understand the importance of knowing why she loves a skill. She highlighted key lessons such as starting small without limiting oneself, learning the business side early, and recognizing that being busy does not always mean being profitable. She also emphasized the importance of customer service, personal presentation, and branding, adding that the experience taught her how to better handle her business.
For Babalola Adenike of @Deniksbeauty, the training served as a turning point. Having spent six years as an upcoming makeup artist, she described the experience as a personal challenge to do better. She shared that she learned not to compare herself with others, to stay consistent despite frustration, and to focus on mastering her craft. According to her, the training renewed her determination to stop procrastinating and take her business seriously.
Comfort Oduka of @Trudystouch also described the programme as deeply impactful, noting that it addressed both the practical and spiritual aspects of makeup artistry. She explained that the training changed her mindset, teaching her the importance of prayer, intentionality, and self-belief. She added that understanding how to apply strategic thinking in business and prioritizing long-term growth over immediate financial gain were key lessons she would carry forward.
Through initiatives like this, Omotayo continues to demonstrate that true success lies in lifting others. Her Free Makeup Training programme is not just about beauty, it is about building confident individuals who are equipped to turn their passion into thriving businesses.
