The nomination list for the 2023 Oscar awards has been released and Nigerian international sensation Temilade ‘Tems’ Openiyi has made history by becoming the first Nigerian artist to earn an Oscar nomination.
“Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” received five nominations, one of which was for “Lift Me Up,” the lead single from the film’s soundtrack. The song was written by Tems, Rihanna, Ryan Coogler, and Oscar winner Ludwig Göransson.
The nominees were announced by actors Riz Ahmed and Allison Williams at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.
Voting for the 2023 Oscars will run from March 2nd -7th. The 2023 Oscar Awards is set to hold on Sunday, March 12 at the Dolby Theater and it will be hosted by comedian and talk show host Jimmy Kimmel.
