R&B/Soul star Jasën Blu releases the long-awaited visual to the first single off his incoming debut album, “Already”. This comes at the heels of announcements on social media earlier in September 2019 where he stated the video release will mark the beginning of the rollout for the album, titled “Soulwave”. In an Instagram post, Blu wrote: “It (“Already”) is the lead single to the album, and the tone-setter for the whole experience. For multiple reasons I couldn’t get the record the exposure it needed (before), but…to do the album well-deserved justice, I’m going to give you guys the full Soulwave experience by starting over from here.” In the same post, he also revealed his decision to stay fully independent going into the release of “Soulwave” and for all subsequent releases to be helmed by his indie label, Nubiana Records.
“Already”, the official music video shot and directed by filmmaker Femd Daniel on a story and production developed and co-directed by Blu himself, depicts a short meeting and a wordless, intimate interaction between Blu and a strange, beautiful young woman (played by fashion model Monica Odeh) at a cafe, which intricately segues flashbacks and imaginations between the two minds. The visual representation creatively realigns with the song’s premise of Blu wooing the seemingly lonely independent young lady, trying to get her to let down her defenses and embrace his promised affection.

This joins Blu’s strings of his 2019 releases, most notably after “Brown Shuga”, his D’Angelo-inspired, self-produced Nigerian R&B staple which has made multiple appearances in international publications in the UK, Greece, and Japan as well as showing up on notable radars at home in Nigeria since its release in June. Blu has also announced new singles to be released leading to the release of his new album towards the end of 2019.
