AYANFE, THE BELOVED

Ayanfe, transliterated in Yoruba means “chosen to be loved.” Young, energetic, soulful, Ayanfe is true to his chosen name. He is beloved. If you don’t already love him, all it takes is one listen to his wonder record “Orimi” and you too will be love-struck.

23 year-old Fashaye Olushola, from Ekiti state, Western Nigeria, is a student of Mathematics at the Osun State University.

Ayanfe spoke about himself and music with Deola in a brief chat.

What’s your musical background?

I grew up in a family that sings, especially my mum. And from church, which is the Redeem Christian Church of GOD, I discovered music was a path I was going to thread. In addition, when I got to the university, I joined a Christian fellowship and became the lead singer. Things really picked up from there. I made a cover of Adekunle Gold’s “Already” and it trended to my surprise. Next, I did a cover of Kiss Daniel’s “Mama” and that was how I got a deal.

 How would you describe your kind of music?

I do alternative RnB. In details, it is RnB with a spice of Afro-Nigerian Feel. It is magnetic and magical. I fall in love with it every time.

What inspired the song “ORIMI”?

“Orimi” Basically I just wanted to do a song, paying homage to the elders because I’m coming to shake it up.

 What inspire you and your kind of music?

Anything; nature, novel and experiences.

 How have you been able to develop your career?

Growth is inevitable and its a dream I have as a young boy to be one of the greatest musician ever. Basically GOD.

Do you play any music instrument?

The guitar.

What are the challenges you face as new artiste?

Getting people to you, getting your face out there as been very challenging.

Which famous musicians do you admire and why?

2face, Asa and R Kelly, 2face is a Legend and Asa she very Deep and R Kelly is who I grew up listening to.

What are you working on currently?

Promoting my new single, doing a radio tour and recording more songs, probably dropping an EP soon.

What’s next for you?

Looking at featuring an A list artist for my next single.
