“I believe everyone’s got their own definition of love in its ramifications… regardless of your passion, love or even belief in life,” multi instrumentalist Akintunde Brown says of his first single of the year “Love Me”. The new track is the singer-songwriter’s first official release from a yet to be named Ep, and its as catchy as they come.
Crafting hypnotic poppy tunes laced with neat vocal performance, Akin still manages to inject charm and playfulness into this record. “Love Me”, a classic reggae tune infused with a refreshing pop ambiance was premiered in a live Facebook event on the 4th of April to his core fan-base at the BlackStar Studios, and has been getting warm feedback since. The song was co-produced by longtime collaborator Shabba, and had fellow PEFTI alumni Jide deliver a blistering performance on the guitar. Everything found direction with prolific producer tiwezi who meticulously handled arrangement. For the trouble, he’s already drawing comparisons to heavyweights such as Chronixx, Bez and Asa.
Akin explains the inspiration inspiration behind the song.
“There’s a common factor in all my failed relationships, it’s me. For me, love is everything and you know what? True love is never ever a waste of time. I’ve made up my mind to always choose love first no matter what life throws at me,No matter how many heartbreak I go through, I’d choose love first. Love Me is a reflection of my truth, joy and the acceptance i found with someone…so good it feels when i’m talking or even singing about it.”
With his deeply addictive vocal melodies and punchy instrumentation, Akin has crafted a song that will stick in your head and playlists for weeks. Trust me. He’s quickly becoming the name on everybody’s lips. In the meantime, we can savor the bitingly beautiful sounds of “Love Me”.
“Love Me” is available now on YouTube and across major streaming services.
