Afropop rising act, Shittu Ganiyu professionally known as S Gee “Sweet Melody” has signed a new management deal with SonyJojo Entertainment to kick off the next phase of his music career.
SonyJojo Entertainment is an emerging record label and management company that offers creative innovation, talent discovery, production facilitation, music distribution, promotion and royalty management.
For both parties, it is a crisp case of “Family turn Business Partners” as SonyJojo Entertainment have always been big believers of the S Gee brand.
To mark the development, both parties have quickly gone to work on the remix of S Gee’s “Iyanu Mashele” record, which features Qdot Alagbe.
While “Iyanu Mashele” enjoyed very impressive acceptance, it is anticipated that the remix will be even bigger.
Born and bred in Oshodi, Lagos, S Gee picked keen interest in music early on – bopping to the rich sounds from his father’s wonderful collection of vinyl records of stalwarts like King Sunny Ade and Barrister.
As he grew older, Mr “Sweet Melody” began frequenting studios in his neighborhood, perfecting his sound with loads influences from the rhythms and sounds of great singers of the day, especially, R&B king, R. Kelly and Nigeria music legend, 2Baba.
S Gee have come a long way from the success of “Amen” his biggest record, and will, the new deal with SonyJojo Entertainment take his music artistry to a whole new level.
The music industry in Africa is taking up new shape with new acts serving rich sounds that transcend borders and culture. S Gee is set to be a major player in that new move. As he said in his own words, “Good Music is the only thing that interests me!”
