The Year of the Essence; Giving Big Wiz his Flowers

Time is of the essence. From the streets of Ojuelegba to filling 02 Arena and sold-out tickets and venues all over the world, the one we call Big Wiz has done it all. Safe to say no African artistes can stake the claim to be bigger or better than the Star boy. 2021 has been an interesting year. Despite the pandemic and restriction of human activities globally, this hasn’t stopped the Star boy from pushing the envelop and boundaries of his music.

The year of the Essence is not just a PR statement, it is a fact backed by fact and figures. Essence peaked at the number one spot in many countries and maintained a steady rise on the biggest music chart and still rising on the widely acclaimed Billboard chart recently peaking at the number 10 spot on the countdown.

Made in Lagos has not only made Wizkid the biggest Afrobeat artiste in the world, it has made him create history that will open doors, create opportunities and expose the world to a genre of music that is African, original and a voice of a whole continent. From Justin Bieber to Da Baby jumping on the song, to celebrities such as Rihanna, Asap Rocky attending M.I.L tour concert.

Big Wiz has broken barriers, broken glass ceilings, pushed the boundaries and made it cool to be African in the west. Here is to a living legend. A proud son of the soil. A true African king who is not shy or relentless in showing his ‘Africaness’ using his music to promote our language, culture and lifestyle to the world.

In the words of Patoranking,” celebrate me when I dey alive’’ for this, we celebrate The Big Wiz犀利士 ong> and extend our colorful flowers to him for breaking grounds and being a source of pride for a continent.
