Rasaq Ibraheem whose stage name is Simpu hails from Ogun State. The Computer Science graduate of Olabisi Onabanjo University said he is known as Simpu because he takes life very simple, holds on to whatever is his own and lets go of what is not.
Simpu talks his music, single with Barry Jhay and thoughts on Afrobeats.

What influenced your decision to go into music?
Music is one thing I’ve loved as a child. I grew up listening to Ebenezer Obey, 2face, Justin Beiber, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne and many others.
Your new single – “Badt” with Barry Jhay. Tell us about it?
Badt is a really great song and a lot of work was put into it, Barry Jhay is a great artiste and I really enjoyed working with him. Like the title, everybody is Badt, you don’t need to compare yourself with another. Just live your lives. You just need to listen to the song
Your thoughts on the rise of Afrobeats?
Afrobeats is number one right now; if you’re not doing Afrobeats I don’t know what you’re doing.
